Physical Therapy

Is Physical Therapy Right For Your Child?

Common reasons why parents will consider pediatric PT:

  • My child fatigues quickly and has trouble keeping up with his/her peers.

  • My child is not meeting his/her gross motor milestones (crawling, walking, running, jumping, etc).

  • My child isn't able to walk without falling or has difficulty with balance.

  • My child demonstrates signs of muscular weakness.

  • My child suffered from a sports injury.

What Do Pediatric Physical Therapists Do?

Your physical therapist will provide a full assessment of your child's physical abilities by testing attributes such as strength, range of motion, posture, and balance. Our team is skilled in working with children that have been diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down Syndrome, Cardio-Pulmonary Disorders, Cystic Fibrosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Spina Bifida, Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis, Arthrogryposis, and more. Play and family involvement are often incorporated into physical activity, as children don't often understand why they are in therapy. Our team prioritizes fun and motivational factors to make therapy enjoyable for the child. In addition to sessions in the clinic, your physical therapist will also recommend and train you on how to use certain orthotics, prosthetics, adaptive equipment, and custom wheelchair systems. You'll also be provided with family support including service coordination, advocacy, and assistance with furthering development.
